Joan Gordon
A sewing and craft designer who has been involved in the sewing and craft industry for approximately twenty five years. Joan has taught various crafts and sewing techniques extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand and the UK and for several years was the Queensland State Manager for McCalls Patterns and later created her own business ‘Victorian Lady’. Before leaving to work in the UK, Joan was employed by Kwik.Sew patterns which were based in Brisbane. Whist at Kwik.Sew she acted as their national promotions and sewing co-ordinator. During this period Joan wrote periodically for Australian Stitches magazine providing articles on ‘designer finishing techniques’.
For the Doncaster event, a sewing portfolio class is a great way of learning how to create a professional finish without having to make a complete garment. These sewing workshops are not suitable for novice sewers. The workshops are designed for people who can already sew garments and are comfortable with their sewing machine but want to know a few more tricks of the trade. You may not have sewn for some time and wish to refresh your skills. Professional pressing and interfacing techniques will also be discussed.
In the following workshops you will make a series of samples. You may take the samples home and store them in a folder (portfolio) for future reference. Upgrade your skills and book into these practical and enjoyable workshops today. Places are limited to 10 students per workshop and tickets can be purchased on the day from the Organiser's Office. This workshop and lecture programme is repeated on all 3 days.
